Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Did you see the show? Did you see him on Oprah? Jamie Oliver the Food Network chef from the UK has hit a nerve and I LOVE it! He hit the unhealthiest city in the U.S. and his goal: to transform the way the entire town views food. Going into homes, churches and opening a kitchen in the center of town to hold classes, he is serious about teaching the truth about what should be going into our bodies. He even tackles the almighty school lunch with all its government "guidelines".

Personally, what always amazes me as a mom is when I see employees in my daughters' schools wearing uniforms that say "school nutrition team" and they're obese. Seriously? Perhaps we really are stupid. Some took offense with Jamie when he referred to our ignorance. They didn't appreciate him being so blunt and felt perhaps he was being a little high and mighty with his UK advice to us overweight, unhealthy Americans. Too bad America! We're dying of heart disease and cancer. Can't figure out what's killing us and our kids are getting diabetes sooner and fatter faster. Read the facts and Wake up! You don't think we've been just a bit stupid in our choices? BRING IT ON JAMIE! I'm with you 100%.

Emma Watson launches Eco Clothes

Emma Watson, Harry Potter wizard extraordinaire, is about to be part of some real magic. She has teamed up with People Tree to create a line of eco-friendly clothing for teens.
The British label is known for its ethical practices which caught Watson’s attention. “I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there,” said Watson according to InStyle.com. Take a peek at the collection.

People Tree collections are 100% organic cotton and made entirely by hand by Fair Trade groups.

Fair Trade Organic Cotton

Fair Trade labels indicate products created with a focus on improving the working and living conditions of small farmers and workers in developing nations.

Organic cotton means the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has been banned on this crop. This obviously benefits the environment but also us as the consumer, as well as, the farmers and their families.

Combining both fair trade and organic yields a stronger stand for environmentally and socially responsible practices.
